Community Awareness and Education
Morgan Autism Center continues to strive to provide support to the community with outreach programs and support to parents and professionals with the following services:
• Morgan Autism Center Annual Autism Conference, with Santa Clara University: for parents, teachers, pediatricians, psychiatrists, counselors, speech therapists--anyone involved with persons with autism.
• Morgan Autism Center Lecture Series: 3 - 6 evening lectures held at Morgan Autism Center for the community, educators and other professionals.
• Consultation services and workshops on classroom and behavior management provided to other agencies, schools, teachers, and counselors.
• Medical Outreach Program: providing observation for pediatric residents from Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital at Stanford as they do part of their pediatric rotation at Morgan Autism Center.
• Teacher Training: internships available for teachers in training at local colleges and universities.
• Our semi-annual newsletter is sent to 3000 people, creating a connection with the community and awareness of issues with autism and similar disabilities.
MAC Model: Information for Training School Districts & Agencies
Four levels of training/consultation with costs
1. If a school district requests help for a specific student in a specific class, a Morgan Autism Center consultant visits the class and consults with staff regarding specific student. Cost: $150.00 per hour.
2. If a school district wants staff trained in understanding the autism learning style and effective teaching strategies, they may request additional help. Morgan Autism Center will train staff at Morgan Autism Center over a four full day period, 9 – 2:00 pm each day. Cost: $750.00 per person.
3. If more than consultations and training are required, Morgan Autism Center can provide training of school district staff for a four full day period, 9 – 2:00. In addition, Morgan Autism Center will provide follow up and on going training/consulting within the school district classrooms. Cost: $750.00 per person for the 4 days and $150.00 per hour for additional consultation.
4. If a school district or agency wants to implement the Morgan Autism Center Model, utilizing our training manual and adhering to the parameters outlined in the program description and requirements, the school district may buy the proprietary rights to the Morgan Autism Center Model. Morgan Autism Center then provides two week training at our site for the district staff, ongoing training within the classroom over the course of the year, including best practices, in-service trainings for staff, parents, help with curriculum and IEP development, training on classroom set up, physical and visual supports, and behavior management. Cost: To be arranged individually with each agency.
Morgan Autism Center will contract with school districts and other agencies as a consultant. Levels 3 and 4 would include a specific number of slots for staff to attend the Morgan Autism Center lecture series and fall conference for free.
