Alyssa has a lifelong passion for supporting individuals with autism. She has been part of the Morgan Autism Center family since her brother enrolled as a student back in 2001. Alyssa earned her B.A. in psychology from the University of San Francisco before joining the Morgan Autism Center as an instructional aide in the summer of 2013. As soon as she stepped foot in her first classroom, she knew it was truly a special place and decided that she wanted to further pursue her career as an educator. Alyssa completed her teaching internship at Morgan Autism Center, while earning her teaching credential in moderate-severe disabilities as well as her Master’s degree in special education from Notre Dame de Namur University in 2016. She enjoyed a year of co-teaching, and has been leading Room 8 as the head teacher for three years now. Alyssa loves working in her post-secondary classroom and developing meaningful relationships with her students. She particularly enjoys integrating community based instruction into her class curriculum, and providing real-life environments and work opportunities for students to learn and practice their skills. Alyssa enjoys reading, hiking, and camping in her free time. She lives on the coast with her husband and two big dogs, and is expecting her first child this year.
